Weight Gain Through Medication… Naive Thinking and Dangerous Consequences

A large number of girls have begun using medications for the purpose of gaining weight, driven by a false belief that weight gain equals beauty, and that having a fuller body is the path to acceptance and marriage. This naive way of thinking has led many girls to use dangerous drugs without medical consultation and without their parents’ knowledge, opening the door to catastrophic health complications.

In medical practice, some of these medications are used with extreme caution, according to precise protocols, under strict medical supervision, and accompanied by laboratory tests and additional treatments to reduce their risks. However, their random and long-term use for weight gain is extremely dangerous.

Corticosteroids: The Real Danger Behind Rapid Weight Gain

Most of the drugs used for this purpose are corticosteroids (cortisol). These substances are available in pharmacies and have a rapid effect on weight gain within a short period. Swelling appears in the face, neck, and shoulders, with fat accumulation being more noticeable in the upper part of the body than the lower part.

This rapid change gives the girl a false sense of satisfaction, prompting her to continue using the drug, unaware that this weight gain is not real fat, but rather the result of water and sodium retention in the tissues.

Among these drugs are dexamethasone, betamethasone, and Celestene. These are among the strongest corticosteroids used in treatment. They provide fast results but carry extremely serious risks.

Serious Complications After Only a Few Weeks

After one or two months of use, real complications begin to appear, including:

• Osteoporosis due to calcium being withdrawn from the bones

• High blood pressure

• The development of diabetes

• Permanent skin tears and stretch marks

• Continuous fatigue and exhaustion

• Persistent anxiety and stress due to the effect of cortisol on stress hormones

These skin tears are permanent, and there is no doctor in the world who can restore the skin to its original condition, regardless of the creams or treatments used.

Adrenal Gland Suppression and Immune System Inhibition

Long-term use of corticosteroids leads to the shutdown of the adrenal glands, which are responsible for producing natural cortisol. This can result in a serious chronic disease. These drugs also suppress the immune system, leaving the body unable to resist illnesses.

We previously warned against using corticosteroids in the early stages of viral infections, as they weaken immunity and worsen the health condition instead of improving it.

Sudden Withdrawal… An Even Greater Disaster

Stopping corticosteroids suddenly after long-term use can lead to extremely dangerous complications. I have seen cases of girls in their mid-twenties who developed health conditions similar to those of women in their sixties. It is a true catastrophe.

Unknown Weight-Gain Products… A Double Risk

Even more dangerous are the so-called Romanian, Greek, or Turkish weight-gain products sold without regulation. Many cases that came to me showed clear symptoms of corticosteroid use, confirming that these products are mixed with such substances to achieve rapid results.

There is no natural product that causes such a massive increase in weight within a short period. These products are highly suspicious, and some are prepared without conscience or oversight.

A Call to Parents and Authorities

I call on parents to monitor what their daughters are taking in terms of medications and products. I also call on the authorities to:

• Strengthen control over the sale of corticosteroids

• Prohibit their sale without a medical prescription

• Investigate the composition of weight-gain products circulating in the markets

These are not isolated cases, but a dangerous phenomenon threatening the health and future of our daughters.
