Does Cholesterol Cause Dizziness? The Truth Many People Don’t Know

There is a quick but very important piece of information that many people are unaware of.
A large number of patients who visit clinics have a common misunderstanding. They believe that feeling dizzy or lightheaded automatically means that their cholesterol level is high.

Many people think that high cholesterol causes dizziness or vertigo, but this information is completely incorrect. Cholesterol, no matter how high it becomes, does not cause dizziness and does not produce direct symptoms that a person can feel.

When cholesterol levels begin to rise and remain high for a long period of time, its effects vary depending on age groups.

In younger people, cholesterol tends to accumulate on the blood vessel walls but remains soft, and the vessels maintain their flexibility. As a result, the person usually does not feel any direct symptoms. In some cases, it may contribute indirectly to high blood pressure, but in most situations, no clear symptoms appear at this stage.

In older adults, especially after the age of forty, cholesterol deposits in the blood vessels begin to harden and calcify. This condition is known as atherosclerosis. At this stage, blood vessels lose their flexibility, which can lead to high blood pressure. Sometimes, the inner space of the vessels becomes narrower, reducing the amount of blood flowing through them.

As for the idea that high cholesterol directly causes dizziness, this belief has no medical basis and no scientific meaning.

Peace and blessings be upon you.
